Team World has added World No.8 Alex de Minaur to its roster for Laver Cup San Francisco, taking place at Chase Center from September 19-21. De Minaur, Australia’s top-ranked player, replaces Frances Tiafoe (No.29).

“We will miss Frances’ energy and game in San Francisco,” said Agassi. “However, we couldn’t be more thrilled to add one of the best and most in-form players in the world to our team. I’ve admired the way Alex plays and competes from afar and now look forward to having a front row seat to watching him perform.”

De Minaur, who had qualified for the team based on his ranking after Roland Garros, was originally unavailable to play due to his planned travel from Australia to Asia following the US Open. When Agassi and Vice Captain Pat Rafter reached out to him with this fresh opportunity, the Aussie was keen to accept the invitation to fly back to the US and step up to support Team World as they bid to recapture the Laver Cup.

A quarterfinalist at six of the last eight Grand Slams, including this year’s Australian Open and US Open, de Minaur is one of the most consistent performers on tour. Renowned for his grit and work ethic he has won 10 ATP Tour singles titles, including this year’s ATP 500 in Washington.

“It’s an honor to join Captain Agassi and Team World in San Francisco next week,” said de Minaur. “My first Laver Cup back in 2022 in London was an incredible experience and I will be ready to give it everything I’ve got to help the team lift the Laver Cup at Chase Center.”

Team Europe currently leads the all-time Laver Cup series 5-2, edging out Team World 13-11 last year in Berlin. Team World won the Laver Cup in Vancouver in 2023 after winning their first title in London in 2022. Team Europe won the first four editions in Prague in 2017, Chicago in 2018, Geneva in 2019 and Boston in 2021.

This year’s team rosters are as follows:

Team World Team Europe
Captain: Andre Agassi Captain: Yannick Noah
Vice Captain: Pat Rafter Vice Captain: Tim Henman
Taylor Fritz Carlos Alcaraz
Alex de Minaur Alexander Zverev
Francisco Cerundolo Holger Rune
