Biography

Overview
The exciting young Italian has taken great strides in 2025, moving to a career-high ranking of No.17 in July after progressing to the Wimbledon quarterfinals. He is now the third-highest ranked Italian after Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti, sitting above a cluster of countrymen in the top 100 at just 23 years of age. An alternate for Team Europe at Laver Cup Berlin in 2024, Cobolli has earned his place in Yannick Noah’s six-man squad and is regarded as one of the best prospects of his generation.

Off Court
Cobolli grew up idolizing Fabio Fognini and footballer Daniele De Rossi. One of his best friends is another top-level footballer Edoardo Bove, who he has known since the age of seven. He is coached by his father Stefano Cobolli, who reached No. 236 in the PIF ATP Rankings. Cobolli has multiple tattoos including the Wolf of Roma and the symbol of Florence, one in Chinese meaning “brave and passion”, and another in Italian meaning, “going for the win”. Cobolli says he has a lot of confidence and relishes competing in a big match. “I just have passion for being a big player.”

Career
Born in Florence, the 2023 Next Gen star has been riding an upward wave that began in August 2024, when he challenged fifth seed Daniil Medvedev for a place in the fourth round of the US Open. He has posted solid results throughout the 2025 season and shown a proficiency on all surfaces, notably grass where he advanced to the last eight at Wimbledon. His first two ATP singles titles were won at Bucharest on clay earlier in March, closely followed by victory in the final at the ATP 500 in Hamburg, where he defeated Andrey Rublev for the title. Cobolli has kept apace with expectations, largely untroubled by any player with a lower ranking as he prepares to debut at Laver Cup in San Francisco.
