Captured on Grass: Wimbledon Through the Laver Cup Lens

Day Nine: The Championships – Wimbledon 2026

The road to Laver Cup London at The O2 in September continued at Wimbledon, where players set to represent Team Europe and Team World have been competing on tennis’s most famous grass courts. As the Championships reach the business end, several players have produced standout performances and reigning Roland-Garros champion Alexander Zverev is the last Laver Cup man standing. Meanwhile, Team Europe’s Carlos Alcaraz continues his recovery from a wrist injury ahead of the North American hard-court swing.

Alexander Zverev | Semifinals

Fresh from capturing his first Grand Slam title in Paris, Alexander Zverev has carried his winning form into Wimbledon, reaching the semifinals for the first time. After defeating Czech Jiri Lehecka in the fourth round, the No.2 seed took out Laver Cup rival Taylor Fritz.

Flavio Cobolli | Quarterfinals

Flavio Cobolli’s breakthrough season continued on grass, with the Italian reaching the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the second consecutive year. His impressive run included recording his 100th ATP Tour-level victory, against James Duckworth, in the second round and a win over Team World’s Alex de Minaur to reach the quarterfinals.

Jakub Mensik | Second Round

Jakub Mensik continued to gain valuable experience on grass, adding a Wimbledon win to a season highlighted by his breakthrough run to the Roland Garros semifinals. His tournament ended in the second round against veteran campaigner Grigor Dimitrov, a former Laver Cup representative for Team Europe (2018 & 2024).

Taylor Fritz | Quarterfinals

One of the most accomplished grass-court players of his generation, Taylor Fritz advanced to his third Wimbledon quarterfinal, dropping just one set along the way. His run ended against Zverev, against whom he still has a 10-6 winning record over.

Alex de Minaur | Fourth Round

Alex de Minaur reached the fourth round at Wimbledon for the third time in his career before meeting a determined Cobolli, marking his first loss to the Italian in three meetings. Cobolli’s aggressive approach tested the Australian’s speed and defensive strength in a highly-anticipated matchup.

Alexander Bublik | Fourth Round

Alexander Bublik once again brought his trademark creativity and fearless shot-making to Wimbledon, showcasing the attacking style that has made him one of the most unpredictable players on tour. His run ended in the fourth round against fellow Team World representative Fritz. Bublik will suit up for Team World for the first time in September.

Tommy Paul | Third Round

A proven performer on grass, Tommy Paul showed his versatility once again at Wimbledon before his run ended in the third round against Hubert Hurkacz. The American’s all-court game remains a valuable asset as he prepares to join Team World in London in September.

Learner Tien | Second Round

Learner Tien, the youngest member of Team World’s 2026 lineup, continued his rapid rise with his second-ever Grand Slam appearance at Wimbledon. Tien’s campaign ended in the second round, where he battled through physical challenges before eventually bowing out.

Ben Shelton | First Round

Ben Shelton arrived at Wimbledon full of confidence after claiming his maiden grass-court title in Stuttgart. Reflecting on his season so far, the American described it as “a complete roller coaster” while looking ahead to the North American hard-court swing, where he believes the best part of the season for me is coming up.”
