American Tommy Paul is set to represent Team World for the third time at the eighth edition of the Laver Cup, which will be held at Chase Center in San Francisco from September 19-21, 2025.

The 27-year-old made an impressive start to the season, reaching his third Grand Slam quarterfinal at the Australian Open in January and breaking into the ATP Top 10 for the first time, achieving a career-high ranking of World No.9.

Currently ranked World No.13, Paul will team up with fellow top Americans Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton, under the guidance of Team World Captain Andre Agassi as the team looks to secure their third Laver Cup victory in front of a home crowd.

Team World claimed their first Laver Cup title in London in 2022 and followed up with a triumphant victory in Vancouver the following year, with Paul a part of the team on both occasions. Team Europe currently lead the head-to-head record 5-2.

“It’s such an honor to be back on Team World,” said Paul. “Being part of the Laver Cup is just an incredible experience. Playing in the team environment, alongside guys that are your best friends, you want to perform not just for you, but also for them. You want to win, more than ever, and that creates an incredible energy.”

“I’m so excited to play in San Francisco in front of the home crowd and with Agassi, one of the greatest legends of our sport as our new Captain, it will be amazing. I haven’t been to a Laver Cup that Team World has lost yet, so hoping to keep that momentum going!”

Agassi, who makes his Laver Cup debut as Team World Captain this year, is excited Paul will join the team.

“Tommy is one of the most talented and dynamic players in the world and I know he will be a key member of our team,” said Agassi. “Alongside Taylor and Ben, I am very pleased with the foundation of our lineup. We realize it will be a big challenge, but we are excited to embrace it.”

Team Europe, led by Yannick Noah, has already announced two of their six-player roster for San Francisco, with World No.2 Carlos Alcaraz and World No.3 Alexander Zverev confirmed.

Played on a dramatic black court, the three-day Laver Cup competition pits six of the best men’s tennis players from Europe against six of their counterparts from the rest of the World. Each player competes in at least one singles match during the first two days, and no more than two during the three-day competition. At least four of the six players must play doubles. Each match win is worth one point on Friday, two points on Saturday, and three points on Sunday, with the first team to reach 13 points winning the Laver Cup.

The three highest ranked players from each region, Europe and the World, based on their ATP singles ranking as of the Monday following Roland-Garros, receive an automatic invitation to play the Laver Cup. If one of these players chooses not to participate, the offer is made to another high ranked player.

The remaining three places on each team will be ‘Captain’s Picks’ and can be announced any time before the start of the US Open. By naming Paul to his team right now, Agassi is committing to use a Captain’s Pick on him if he does not qualify based on ranking.

With San Francisco set to host its first-ever Laver Cup, and Chase Center – home of the seven-time NBA Champion Golden State Warriors, and the Golden State Valkyries – welcoming tennis for the first time, anticipation is at an all-time high.

Hospitality packages are sold out and there has been an overwhelming demand for tickets since Full Tournament Ticket Packages went on sale in mid-February. Multi-Session Ticket Packages, providing the same seat for select sessions of the tournament, go on sale this Friday, April 4, at 10:00AM (PT) via Ticketmaster, the official ticketing partner of Chase Center.
