Fast-rising Frenchman Arthur Fils will join Team Europe and Wimbledon quarterfinalist American Christopher Eubanks will represent Team World as alternates for the upcoming sixth edition of the Laver Cup at Rogers Arena, Vancouver, from September 22-24, 2023.
At 19, Fils is one of the ATP Tour’s most exciting prospects, having won his first singles title as a wildcard at Lyon in May aged 18 years and 11 months, and becoming the youngest Frenchman to win an ATP Tour title since Gael Monfils’ Sopot victory in 2005.
He broke into the Top 50 at the end of July and defeated No.4-ranked Casper Ruud at Hamburg in a run to the semifinals. Currently ranked No.44, Fils is making his first appearance with captain Bjorn Borg’s Team Europe.
Also making his Laver Cup debut, No.32-ranked Eubanks came to the attention of sports fans at Wimbledon this year with an astonishing run to the quarterfinals, where he eliminated Cameron Norrie in the second round and Stefanos Tsitsipas in the R16 before going out to No.3-ranked Daniil Medvedev in five sets.
Leading up to The Championships, Eubanks qualified for his first grasscourt tournament at Stuttgart and the following week he won his first title at Mallorca. His ranking improved to a career-high No.29 in July 2023.
On hard courts he defeated 17th seed Borna Coric to move into the third round at Miami and reached the quarterfinals there after defeating Adrian Mannarino in straight sets, his best-ever ATP Masters 1000 result.
