Biography

Overview
Czech-born Machac joins Team Europe in San Francisco as an alternate, with a growing list of credentials. The 24-year-old reached a career-high No.20 ranking in March after winning his first ATP singles title in Acapulco, his confidence bolstered by a punishing five-set victory over Team World’s Reilly Opelka in the second round of the Australian Open, a triumph he repeated en route to the fourth round in Miami.

Off Court
Tomas grew up idolizing Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, honing his skill against a hitting wall from the age of five. Possessing a strong mindset on a tennis court but a fear of spiders and snakes in unfamiliar terrain, Tomas likes reading, studying and watching shows about history. He also enjoys basketball, and lists the Chicago Bulls as his favorite team, and Michael Jordan as his favorite player.

Career
Machac has proved himself a dangerous proposition on the big stage, advancing to the third round of the Australian and US Opens in 2025, and picking up his first ATP title in Acapulco, where he cast aside Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina in straight sets at the 500 event. In addition, Machac defeated both No.1 Novak Djokovic and No.2 Carlos Alcaraz to reach the semifinals of the ATP Masters 1000 in Shanghai last year.
