Young tennis enthusiasts will have a rare chance to share the court with some of the top men’s professional tennis players as ballkids at the eighth edition of the Laver Cup taking place at Chase Center in San Francisco from September 19–21, 2025.
Kids between 12-16 years of age can register from Thursday May 22 at www.lavercup.com/ballkids for the Laver Cup San Francisco Ballkid Tryouts presented by UBS. Registration closes on Thursday May 29 with the tryouts taking place on Saturday June 21 at Goldman Tennis Center and Sunday June 22 at California Tennis Club.
The 90-minute ballkid tryout sessions will be run by a team of qualified tennis coaches who will assess the kids on vital ballkid skills including agility, coordination, balance, speed, endurance and teamwork.
From the tryouts a team of 24 ballkids will be selected to share the iconic black Laver Cup court with tennis stars including Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, Holger Rune, Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul, Ben Shelton and Joao Fonseca.
“A Laver Cup mission is to inspire the next generation and leave a lasting legacy in every city we visit,” said Laver Cup CEO Steve Zacks.
“Our ballkid program is a fantastic opportunity for young people from all backgrounds. They get to take part in the tryouts – an engaging, exciting and memorable experience in itself – with the possibility of being part of the official Laver Cup 2025 Ballkid Team.”
The children selected for the final Laver Cup San Francisco Ballkid Team will participate in comprehensive training sessions designed to prepare them for their important role at Chase Center. The program will cover all key ballkid responsibilities—from ball retrieval and on-court etiquette, to working seamlessly with players and officials—ensuring they’re ready to perform their duties with confidence.
“Ballkids play a vital role in helping matches run smoothly and professionally,” said Laver Cup Ballkid Manager Troy Rondeau.
“Beyond strong ball-handling skills and a basic understanding of tennis scoring, we’re looking for young people who are great communicators and bring a positive, can-do attitude to the court.”
Laver Cup partner UBS will once again be supporting the Ballkid Journey.
“As part of our broader partnership with the Laver Cup, we are delighted to support the 2025 Ballkids program and inspire the next generation of tennis fans and players. UBS Global Brand Ambassador Roger Federer began his remarkable career as a ball boy, which is a testament to the opportunity the program provides for passionate young tennis fans to get up close to the craft of tennis,” said Lauren Gorsche, Regional Director, UBS Wealth Management West Region.
