As the tennis season gets underway, sports fans have set their sights on San Francisco and the next chapter of the Laver Cup. Here are five things to look forward to when Team Europe takes on Team World for an epic eighth year, bringing together rivals and teammates at the Chase Center, San Francisco, from September 19-21, 2025.

1. Making History at the Chase Center
Inspired by the great Rod Laver’s achievements and legacy, the Laver Cup has become one of tennis’s premier team events, uniting rivals as teammates in a thrilling battle for glory. Since its debut in Prague in 2017, the tournament has showcased the world’s best players, delivering unforgettable moments and celebrating the sport’s rich history. In 2025, the iconic Chase Center in San Francisco will host the next chapter of this storied event. Fans will witness history in the making as Team Europe aims to extend its dominance while Team World looks to capitalize on home-court advantage to claim a third Laver Cup title. With the world’s top players battling it out in a fast-paced format that thrives on intensity and teamwork, who will rise to the occasion and etch their names into the history books?

2. The stars align
Since its inception, Team Europe and Team World rosters have included the highest-ranked players in tennis, such as multiple Grand Slam winners Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and, in 2024, Carlos Alcaraz. The Spanish sensation has again committed to Team Europe in 2025, while Team World’s lineup will feature No.4-ranked Taylor Fritz. The two squared off in Berlin’s decisive match and are eyeing a rematch at San Francisco’s Chase Center, where the American will have a home-court advantage. Who else will make the cut at Laver Cup San Francisco? Team Europe is poised to assemble a roster of top ten-ranked players while Team World has no shortage of rising talent to choose from.

After making his stunning debut at Laver Cup Berlin in 2024, Carlos Alcaraz is excited to be back representing Team Europe in 2025.

3. New captains, new era
Laver Cup San Francisco will welcome two new tennis legends to the Captaincy with the departure of Team Europe’s Bjorn Borg and Team World’s John McEnroe. Former French tennis star Yannick Noah will take over for the blue team while eight-time Grand Slam singles champion Andre Agassi steps into the hot seat for the red team alongside recently appointed Vice Captain, Patrick Rafter.  Agassi and Noah were in Berlin keeping a watchful eye on proceedings, and will bring their own, unique stamp to the competition. “My hope would be that everybody I spend time with … is better off for the time spent,” said Agassi. Noted Noah: “I’ve seen [today’s players] from afar. We’re going to have to spend some quality time together, and I want them to enjoy their tennis. So many times, players think: ‘If I win, I’ll be happy’. My philosophy is: ‘Be happy first, and you’ll win’.”

4. New city – new experiences
Agassi is also delighted that the Laver Cup is coming to San Francisco when Team World hosts the competition next September, pointing out that this level of tennis has never been seen in the ‘City by the Bay’ and will mean a great deal to the community. “It’s great for the city and I think it’s great for the game, too,” he said. The Laver Cup leaves a legacy wherever it travels, selecting its ballkid squad from local talent and opening its doors to young people and families through the Laver Cup Fan Zone and Open Practice Day.
