Chardy, whose father Guy is a banker and mother Maryse is a housewife, began playing tennis when he was six and grew up idolizing American champion Pete Sampras. The avid football fan, who supports Paris Saint-Germain, married Zambian model Susan Gossage in September 2017.

Career

Potential was evident early in Chardy’s career, achieving a career-high junior ranking of No.3 after winning the Wimbledon boys’ singles title in 2005. He was also runner-up in the US Open boys’ singles in 2005. The 31-year-old has reached the fourth round at all Grand Slam tournaments, with his best result at quarterfinal run at Australian Open 2013.
