Overview
Earmarked as a future Hall of Famer, Carlos Alcaraz continues to build a career already overflowing with accolades. The swashbuckling Spaniard made his Laver Cup debut in Berlin in 2024, winning three of four matches to help secure Team Europe’s fifth title. In 2025, he joined incoming Captain Yannick Noah’s lineup in San Francisco and won two doubles matches and a singles match on Sunday, keeping his team’s hopes alive. Now 23, Alcaraz owns six major trophies and 26 ATP singles titles, adding the Australian Open to his Grand Slam tally in February.
Off Court
The second of four brothers, Carlos Alcaraz picked up a racquet at just four years old at a club in Murcia, where his father worked as a coach. At 15, he began training at the academy of former world No.1 Juan Carlos Ferrero. He is currently coached by Samuel Lopez. A devoted Real Madrid supporter, his idol is compatriot Rafael Nadal, with whom he partnered in doubles at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Away from the court, his favorite film is Rocky Balboa, and his favorite actor is Will Smith. In April 2025, Netflix released Carlos Alcaraz: My Way, a documentary chronicling the Spaniard’s early beginnings in tennis, his challenges, and his rise to stardom.
Career
Alcaraz possesses an all-court game, with exquisite touch, breathtaking power, and a never-say-die spirit. His triumph over Alexander Zverev in the Roland Garros 2024 final made him the youngest to secure major titles on three surfaces, almost two years since the then 19-year-old became the youngest man to top the rankings. The only player to deny Novak Djokovic in two Wimbledon finals, he made his Grand Slam breakthrough at the 2022 US Open. Alcaraz fulfilled a dream when he partnered Rafael Nadal in doubles at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he was a silver medallist in singles. In 2025, he captured his fifth major – at Roland Garros, and in January 2026, he completed the career Grand Slam by winning the Australian Open, the only major missing from Carlitos’ trophy collection. Alcaraz took an extended break after the tournament in Barcelona in April to repair a right wrist injury.
