Biography

Overview
Earmarked as a future Hall of Famer, Carlos Alcaraz continues to build a career already overflowing with accolades. In 2025 he has once again dazzled, often described as otherworldly when locked into his zone. The swashbuckling Spaniard made his Laver Cup debut in Berlin last year, winning three of four matches to help secure Team Europe’s fifth title. Now 22, he owns five major trophies and 22 ATP singles titles. This season he joined Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Gustavo Kuerten, and Marcelo Ríos as one of only five men to win three different ATP Masters 1000 crowns on clay.

Off Court
The second of four brothers, Carlos Alcaraz picked up a racquet at just four years old at a club in Murcia, where his father worked as a coach. At 15, he began training at the academy of his current mentor, former world No.1 Juan Carlos Ferrero. A devoted Real Madrid supporter, his idol is compatriot Rafael Nadal, with whom he partnered in doubles at the Paris Olympics. Away from the court, his favorite film is Rocky Balboa and his favorite actor is Will Smith. In April, Netflix released Carlos Alcaraz: My Way, a documentary chronicling the Spaniard’s early beginnings in tennis, his challenges, and his rise to stardom.

Career
Alcaraz possesses an all-court game, with exquisite touch, breathtaking power and a never-say-die spirit. His triumph over Alexander Zverev in the Roland Garros 2024 final made him the youngest to secure major titles on three surfaces, almost two years since the then 19-year-old became the youngest man to top the rankings. The only player to deny Novak Djokovic in two Wimbledon finals, his Grand Slam breakthrough came at US Open 2022. Alcaraz fulfilled a dream when he partnered Rafael Nadal in doubles at the Paris Olympics, where he was a silver medallist in singles. This year, he captured six more titles including his fifth major – at Roland Garros. His tally of ATP Masters 1000 crowns increased to eight, securing victory at Monte-Carlo, Rome and Cincinnati in 2025.
