Team Europe carries a 3-1 lead into Day 2 at The O2, with a pair of blockbuster Laver Cup rematches on tap: Reigning US Open champion Alexander Zverev vs. Alex de Minaur, and seven-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz vs. the upset-minded Taylor Fritz.

Kicking things off on Saturday at The O2 will be an enticing clash between two players in the midst of a breakout year. Cobolli, 24, reached his first Grand Slam final earlier this year at Roland Garros, and last month rose to a career-high No. 6 in the PIF ATP Rankings. The self-described ‘warrior’ is a knock-down/drag-out fighter on the court. Said the Italian at the US Open earlier this month, “When I’m on the court, I feel more comfortable. I feel more Flavio.” On the other side of the net will be the Team World debutant Tien, who at 20 has done nothing but sprint his way into the upper echelons of the game. Now on the cusp of the Top 10, the Southern Californian is an ultra-clean ball-striker who in January took down Daniil Medvedev to reach his first Grand Slam quarterfinal at the Australian Open. They’ve traded wins in just two previous encounters.

ALEXANDER ZVEREV (EUROPE) VS. ALEX DE MINAUR (TEAM WORLD)
These two have a history. Although the German Zverev has won the lion’s share of their 11 previous encounters, it was the Aussie De Minaur who claimed their most recent clash, ironically on the Laver Cup stage last year at the Chase Center in San Francisco. Zverev, No. 2 in the PIF ATP Rankings, has finally hurdled the Grand Slam barrier that had proved so elusive. He won two major singles titles in a matter of three months, including Roland Garros and, most recently, the US Open. He’s riding a wave of confidence that has seen him emerge as the tour’s top player in 2026. The newly married De Minaur revels in these kinds of high-stakes opportunities, especially when it’s in a team environment. You won’t want to miss this one.

CARLOS ALCARAZ (TEAM EUROPE) VS. TAYLOR FRITZ (TEAM WORLD)
Carlos Alcaraz is still smarting from his loss to Taylor Fritz last year at the Laver Cup, a match that proved pivotal in Team World’s 15-9 victory in San Francisco, an upset that still stands as the biggest win in the Californian Fritz’s career. Back on tour after a five-month layoff due to a serious wrist injury, the seven-time Slam champ Alcaraz is again playing with an infectious joy. The Spaniard is appearing in his third consecutive Laver Cup, and owns a 19-1 combined record against Team World, the one loss coming against Fritz. The youngest man to complete the career Grand Slam, he’ll be seeking revenge against one of the ATP’s biggest servers and most consistent players. On Monday, the 2024 US Open runner-up will drop out of the Top 10 for the first time since September 2024, breaking a streak of 107 consecutive weeks. Another upset of Alcaraz would do wonders to soften the blow.

To illustrate just how much Team World Captain Andre Agassi values the presence of the mercurial Alexander Bublik, the Hall of Famer is already calling upon his charge for a third time at Laver Cup London 2026. Bublik, the first Kazakh to play the Laver Cup, will be joined by the surging Californian Brandon Nakashima on the doubles court, facing the imposing Team Europe tandem of Alexander Zverev and Casper Ruud. Both Ruud and the Laver Cup rookie Nakashima notched singles wins on Day 1, both decided in Laver Breakers.
