London has been confirmed as the host city for the ninth edition of the Laver Cup, with the event set to return to The O2 from September 25-27, 2026.
The venue was the scene of one of the most unforgettable moments in tennis history when Roger Federer brought his legendary career to a close at the 2022 edition of the Laver Cup in front of a packed London crowd alongside his longtime rivals Rafa Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray.
The O2, is the world’s most popular live entertainment, leisure, and retail destination and has been visited by over 100 million people since opening in 2007. Its iconic arena welcomes over 200 events a year and was host to the ATP World Tour Finals from 2009 to 2020 as well as the Laver Cup in 2022. Beyond tennis, The O2 has staged global superstars such as Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Madonna, Adele, Elton John, Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones, and has hosted major events including The BRIT awards, UFC, NBA games and World Championship Boxing.
“We are thrilled to be bringing the Laver Cup back to London, one of the world’s great sporting cities,” said Laver Cup Chairman and TEAM8 CEO Tony Godsick. “London set a new benchmark in 2022, delivering one of the most successful and emotional editions of the event to date.”
“While we’ve traditionally taken the Laver Cup to new cities around the world each year, the response from London – from fans, partners and players – was truly overwhelming. The appetite to see Laver Cup return was impossible to ignore, and we’re excited to once again bring this unique tennis event back to The O2.”
Federer, 20-time Grand Slam Champion and Laver Cup co-founder, is also looking forward to returning to The O2.
“My final match in 2022 was filled with emotion and unforgettable memories – being surrounded by my teammates who were also my greatest rivals – it was everything I could have hoped for,” said Federer. “I’m really looking forward to returning to such a meaningful place, this time as a fan, and experiencing the incredible Laver Cup atmosphere once again.”
Named in honor of Australian tennis legend Rod Laver, the Laver Cup pits six of the best men’s players from Europe against six of their counterparts from the rest of the World over three days of intense team competition. The event is played on a dramatic black court that will be constructed within The O2.
Since its debut in Prague in 2017, the Laver Cup has been staged in Chicago (2018), Geneva (2019), Boston (2021), London (2022), Vancouver (2023), Berlin (2024) and this year will be held at Chase Center in San Francisco from September 19-21. Team Europe lead the head-to-head 5-2 and the London 2026 edition will mark the fifth time Europe has held the ‘home advantage’.
“The O2 is a spectacular venue that combines cutting-edge technology, world-class amenities, and an atmosphere that elevates every match,” said Laver Cup CEO Steve Zacks.
“It’s the perfect stage for the drama, intensity and camaraderie that define Laver Cup. London also serves as an ideal hub to welcome fans from across Europe and around the world who want to experience this unique event live. We look forward to delivering another incredible experience for fans, players, partners and the global tennis community.”
As the owner and operator of The O2, AEG is equally excited to see the Laver Cup return to London following the success of the event in 2022 and in 2024 at AEG Europe’s Uber Arena in Berlin.
“We’re delighted to host the Laver Cup once again and welcome the tennis world back to The O2,” said Alex Hill, President and CEO, AEG International.
“The Laver Cup was a huge success for us in 2022 and has become a must-see event on the global sporting calendar. Its return to London will be a celebration of everything that makes sport and this venue so special.”
With its rich sporting legacy and deep connection to tennis, London is a natural setting for the Laver Cup. British fans are renowned for their passion and the appetite for top-level tennis competition has never been stronger.
“London is now the undisputed sporting capital of the world, and I’m absolutely delighted that the Laver Cup is coming to The O2 next year,” said Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan. “This renowned tennis competition has featured many of the greats of the game and it’s an honour for London to become the first city to stage the event twice.”
“London was proud to host one of the most successful and memorable editions of the Laver Cup back in 2022 – where the great Roger Federer bought his glittering career to a close – and we look forward to staging another fantastic competition.”
Team Europe Vice Captain Tim Henman agrees. “British fans are passionate about tennis and the atmosphere at The O2 in 2022 was electric,” said the former British No.1.
“I’m really looking forward to being part of the Laver Cup for the first time this year in San Francisco and even more excited to see it return to London in 2026. It’s a city that lives and breathes sport, and I know the fans will make it another unforgettable occasion.”
