San Francisco named as host city for Laver Cup 2025

San Francisco will host the Laver Cup at Chase Center, home of the seven-time NBA Champion Golden State Warriors, from September 19-21, 2025.

The state-of-the art Chase Center has become a major attraction for some of the largest music, entertainment and sporting events appearing on the West Coast of the United States since opening in 2019.

“We are thrilled to be bringing the Laver Cup to sports fans in San Francisco and the entire Bay Area community,” said Laver Cup Chairman and TEAM8 CEO Tony Godsick.

“Chase Center will be the perfect setting to stage the eighth edition of the event, in a cosmopolitan city that loves its sport but has been without a top-level men’s pro tennis event for over 10 years.”

“Our vision for Laver Cup was to bring together the world’s top players – rivals year-round – as teammates, to honor the great legends of the past, deliver thrilling, competitive tennis and help grow the game. This announcement marks another exciting step in the Laver Cup journey.”

The Laver Cup pits six of the best men’s tennis players from Europe against six of their counterparts from the rest of the World in a three-day contest that honors tennis legend Rod Laver, the only man to win two calendar-year Grand Slams. Laver himself lives in San Diego, California.

Played on a dramatic black indoor court, the Laver Cup rotates between Europe and rest of the world cities each year. The first four editions of the Laver Cup were won by Team Europe in Prague (2017), Chicago (2018), Geneva (2019), and Boston (2021). Team World has won the last two titles in London (2022) and Vancouver (2023). The Laver Cup will be staged this year at Uber Arena in Berlin from September 20-22.

Twenty-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer, co-creator of the Laver Cup, agrees San Francisco will be a great destination for the competition.

“Bay Area fans will love the way the Laver Cup brings together the world’s top players as teammates. They will get to see them putting aside their rivalries and sitting courtside together cheering each other on. This doesn’t exist anywhere else,” said Federer, winner of three Laver Cup titles with Team Europe.

“Many tennis players are NBA fans themselves. They will be excited to perform for the first time in one the world’s most spectacular arenas, and home to the Warriors.”

San Francisco has many attractions for visitors, including the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf, and Alcatraz Island. Chase Center is located in San Francisco’s Mission Bay neighborhood and is surrounded by Thrive City, a dynamic open-air district outside the arena where families, fans and visitors enjoy a variety of free programming, dining and retail experiences, and community events.

“From a boost in tourism to increased support for our small businesses, major sporting events like Laver Cup significantly benefit and bring unmatched energy to our city,” said San Francisco Mayor, London Breed. “We are honored to be chosen to welcome Laver Cup for their first U.S. West Coast event and proud of the caliber of our city’s incredible venues like Chase Center, hotels, restaurants, and attractions that draw a global audience to San Francisco.”

With capacity of 18,064, Chase Center is a world-class arena redefining the live event space. Nestled in the heart of a vibrant cityscape, the arena’s modern and sophisticated architecture seamlessly blends with cutting-edge technology, luxury premium seating, and an elevated fan experience.

“Laver Cup’s U.S. West Coast debut at Chase Center will deliver world-class experiences to fans from all over the globe,” said Warriors President and Chief Operating Officer, Brandon Schneider. “We eagerly anticipate the global tennis community converging at Chase Center and Thrive City, and we are ready to showcase the unique charm and hospitality that define San Francisco as the go-to choice for such a prestigious, international event.”

Chase Center has hosted marquee entertainment and sporting events such as the NBA Finals, NCAA Men’s Basketball Western Regionals, League of Legends World Championship and renowned artists such as Madonna, John Mayer, Jerry Seinfeld, Drake, Lionel Richie, Arctic Monkeys and more.

“Chase Center is one of the greatest multipurpose sports and entertainment arenas in the world and is the perfect fit for the Laver Cup,” said Laver Cup CEO Steve Zacks.

“It is modern, luxurious, and perfectly situated in the heart of Mission Bay, surrounded by an array of retail and eating outlets. We will take advantage of the arena and surrounding district, Thrive City, to fully enhance the Laver Cup fan experience.”
