Italian Flavio Cobolli and Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff will join Team Europe as alternates for Laver Cup Berlin 2024 at Uber Arena, from September 20-22 and take part in all team activities and appearances.
Cobolli, 22, started his 2024 season outside the top 100 and jumped to No.31 in August after reaching his first ATP Tour final in Washington. He is one of four Italians to be ranked inside the top 40. Cobolli featured in the 2023 Next Gen ATP Finals and, after qualifying for the Australian Open in January, reached the third round of the Australian Open and posted solid results throughout the season.
Possessing a heavy serve and groundstrokes, 34-year-old Struff is the second-ranked German behind Alexander Zverev, who is making his fifth appearance on Captain Bjorn Borg’s six-man roster in Berlin. In April, Struff became the third oldest first-time ATP champion when he captured the title at Munich. The win capped his most impressive 18 months, which included reaching the Paris Olympics doubles partnering with Dominik Koepfer.
Borg has assembled an impressive lineup as Team Europe bids to win back the Laver Cup in Berlin, including world No.2-ranked Zverev, No.3 Carlos Alcaraz, No.5 Daniil Medvedev, No.9 Casper Ruud, No.10 Grigor Dimitrov and No.12 Stefanos Tsitsipas.
